The Latest Two Wall Hangings that I have Made.
The Northern Hemisphere Seasonal Wall Hanging is suspended by a Pohutukawa wood stick, Pohutukawa is a Native of New Zealand and often used to represent the North and the Element of Fire, because here in the Southern Hemisphere North is where our sun is at midday. Pohutakawa is also the wood of doorways, it is said that spirits of the dead travel the length of New Zealand until they get to the Great Pohutukawa at the tip of the North Island and then travel to the underworld accompanied by Hine-nui-te-pō the Goddess of Death.
The Sitting Priestess Wall Hanging is suspended by a Pear Wood, Pears are a favourate fruit here in New Zealand but not a native. For me Pear Wood is light and airy which lends itself well to Meditation and for some reason i can see this wall hanging, hanging in someone meditation room or corner.
Both of these Wall hangings will soon be listed on my Etsy Store Urban Witchery which can be found here http://www.etsy.com/shop/UrbanWitchery
